Our hiking package takes you to the shoreline and the majestic forest in the Vristulven nature reserve. Hike in varied but easy terrain with your dog and children – and it’s easy to take breaks at designated fire spots.
Lugnåsberget boasts several different nature reserves with beautiful trails and lovely environments. Lugnåsberget Eco Hotel is located in a UNESCO Global Geopark, the Platåbergens Geopark. It is easy and enjoyable to hike here, with pleasant paths, short distances, and cozy rest areas.
Lugnåsberget is also part of a UNESCO Biosphere area, Vänerskärgården with Kinnekulle, a model area for sustainable development. The Biosphere Trail passes just outside the eco hotel on the segment between Kinnekulle and Mariestad.
Day 1: Hike among millstone quarries and millstones in the Lugnås Millstone Quarries nature reserve or along the Stonecutter Trail. Lugnåsberget is marked by a millstone industry that has been active here for 800 years.
Day 2: Hike along the shoreline and the majestic forest in the Vristulven nature reserve. It is easy to take breaks as there are plenty of designated fire spots. Along the lake, you can find beavers, loons, and ospreys, while inside the large forest, there are berries and mushrooms. When the Millstone Quarry Museum and café are open, you can take a guided tour of the unique quarry. The Millstone Quarry was designated as Sweden’s Geological Heritage by SGU in 2012 and awarded the title of Sweden’s Working Life Museum by Arbetsam.
You will stay comfortably in your own room with a private entrance and bathroom/shower, with the wood-fired sauna nearby. You can light the fire yourself.
Travel sustainably with the Kinnekulletåget train to Lugnås station, or hike from the Biosphere Trail between Läckö and Mariestad. The eco hotel has three charging stations for electric cars.
The package includes:
